Business Flyer

Festival Flyer

I chose the image of the owl for the background because I feel that it reflects the folk art that is created and displayed at the Sawdust festival. Also, owls remind me of barns and places where real sawdust might be found. I did not want the image to be very loud, however, which is why I made it rather faded into the background. I wanted he gradient that I chose to serve as something eye catching but not too alarming. The colors have an artistic flare that create a soothing and interesting theme. The font is fun and easy to read from far away; I feel that it would pull people to read it, whether it be in a magazine or on a hand out flyer. The colors I chose stand out against each other and are pleasing to look at. I feel that this ad would be recieved well by a wide range of viewers and adequately embodies the festival.

Calendar

I chose my design for a variety of reasons. The color of the calendar is simple, bold, and fun, appealing to a wide range of people. I made sure to use a font that would be creative looking, but very easy to read. I made sure that the images I chose fit the client's wishes: there are pictures of people and animals together, promoting the idea of happiness through pet adoption. The colors I used on the images stand out and the trivia facts I used are both interesting and informative. The ads that I created can be manipulated to change size and color, depending on the what the client wanted to put there. Overall, I feel that this is a very solid calendar design and contains everything the client asked for, as well as displaying my own creative ability.

Restaurant Logo

Hollywood Sandwich Shoppe

I chose this design for a number of reasons. I wanted to color and the style to reflect the idea of the original, classic Hollywood with vibrant reds and rich gold hues. The font is large and elegant looking, to go along with the classic theme. I chose to keep images to a minimum and focus more on creating a simple menu that could be printed in either color or black and white; however, I favor the color version simply because it adds a touch of style to the restaurant. I made up a sandwich after Marilyn Monroe, again using an old Hollywood star to go with the old Hollywood theme, but a more recent celebrity could easily be placed into that space. I focused on alignment within the menu and made sure that everything looked professional, but simple.
